A heartfelt initiative to create origami hearts for families who have lost a loved one.
14th March 10am at Wotso Shop 3/120 Mulgoa Rd, Jamisontown
These special origami hearts provide family members and carers with a space to write a personal message, honouring the love, memories, and connection they continue to hold.
Across the Western Sydney Local Health District — including Mount Druitt Hospital, Blacktown Hospital, Auburn Hospital and Westmead Hospital — the Bereavement Service holds five memorial services each year to support families in remembering their loved ones.
Session was led by a Palliative Care Volunteer Manager.
Why would a hard-nosed frontline cop who has seen tragedy after tragedy become a Christian?
Gary first served with NSW Ambulance before joining the NSW Police Force, where he dedicated 34 years to roles including Police Rescue Squad, Major Crime Investigations, Royal Commission Senior Investigator, and Emergency Management.
Across his career, Gary responded to some of Australia’s most tragic disasters—the Granville Train Disaster, Hilton Hotel Bombing, Thredbo Landslide, Newcastle Earthquake, and many more.
In the face of tragedy, Gary brought not only skill and leadership, but also deep compassion. Today, he continues that calling as Chaplain to NSW Ambulance, the Police Post Trauma Support Group, and the Blacktown City RSL Veterans Sub-Branch—supporting first responders, veterans, and families.
Beyond his service, Gary is a devoted husband to Michelle, a primary school teacher, and a proud “dog dad” to two lively Mini Schnauzers. His story is one of resilience, healing, and the hope found in the Gospel.
On 18 October 2025, we were delighted to welcome
Chief Inspector Gary Raymond APM, OAM (Ret.) to share his incredible testimony of service, faith, and hope. About 60 people attended a presentation by Gary Raymond with Q & A, a medium coffee, and light breakfast.
At The Refinery Christian Church, our "Capital C" mission involves actively supporting other churches and charitable organizations. On 10 August 2025 some of our congregation ran "The City 2 Surf" to raise money for The Wayside Chapel.
